Check craigslist--farm category--in your area. I see ads often. Also for game birds. If there are Amish in the area, check with them. I've bought birds from Amish at a swap market in Indiana.
That's about average for around here. Wild birds are harder to find than loft bred birds. Lots of fancy birds: homers, rollers, and paired birds. Way too expensive for training, although homers are good if you don't shoot them. The great thing with pigeons, once they are acclimated to their loft, you can train farther from home. Chances are the birds will beat you home.
